Diner en Blanc - Sydney, 2014.

Wearing ASOS dress

Photos by myself and Matt Wilms.

Diner en Blanc was one of the most amazing nights of my year. I remember reading about the original Diner en Blanc a few years ago before my boyfriend, his sister and I set out to have our very own "White Days" (see post one here and post two here). To be offered the opportunity to go to the real 'white day' was like a dream come true. From the last minute running around to make sure you have everything you need to the suspense of getting on the bus and seeing what surprise location it takes you to was like a roller coaster. Only to arrive and forget about all of the preparation that had gone in to the day and live completely in the moment surrounded by 3000 like minded people all dressed head-to-toe in white. The whole experience felt so surreal yet so natural at the same time - like it was all meant to be. We decided to keep things simple and easy food wise opting for cheese, fruit and dip platter with some delicious homemade blueberry and white chocolate pastries. This was all washed down with beautiful white wine and a gorgeous sunset.

The DJ set the tone for the evening but when he played one of my favourite songs, Paris by Friendly Fires, I felt like I was living in some dream like heaven. The sparkler moment was a real highlight. Looking around in the dark of the night to see everyone holding fiery gold sparks was breathtaking.

The only way I can sum up this night is with the word "magic". It was every sense of the word and more. A truly unforgettable experience that I'll remember forever... Or until we do it all again next year!

Weekend Outfit: Get up to go out!

Wearing: Top, Zara (similar), Skirt, Finders Keepers (similar), Boots, Country Road, Clutch, ASOS (similar)

After nearly six months of living in Sydney I am finally back online and can resume working on my blog! Words can't describe the excitement last night when the little wireless symbol lit up on my Mac and I was back in to the portal of the online world. There were all of these things that I had made a mental list of that I would do as soon as I got back on to the internet but when it finally happened everything was so overwhelming that I just dipped my toes in Pinterest-land for a little while before venturing out into the inter webs.

However living without the internet did have its positives, like watching Seinfeld every night, going to bed earlier, reading books (remember those old things...?!), writing in diaries and learning how to crochet. So it hasn't been all that bad.

In regards to the above photos, this has been my go-to going out outfit of late. The mercury has begun to drop overnight as autumn is well and truly setting in. This calls for more coverage in which I've turned to a long sleeve blouse, skirt and boots. The bare legs can weather the cool brunt for a little longer while the boots keep your feet nice and toasty.

PS - apologies for my scarred legs - they have taken a beating of late; firstly falling on the stairs at work and requiring three stitches and secondly, and very embarrassingly, taking a tumble on the treadmill at the gym... it wasn't as bad as these though, promise!

Hot Rod.

Dress: ASOS

On the June long weekend, every year since I can remember, hoards of hot rods make their way to our small sunny town of Coolangatta and set up for three days of full blown 50s nostalgia. I love old things but old cars don't really float my boat the way a Ferrari or Maserati do. However this glittering hot pink car was pretty hard to turn away from, especially when it lit up with the flash of the camera. This ASOS smock dress is one of my favourite things at the moment. The dress maintains its floaty shape from the thick and comfortable material whilst the all-over polka dots make it so much fun to wear. Now if that car would just magically turn into a hot pink glittering Ferrari then we would be talking...!

Retro flower.

Dress + Bag: vintage
Shoes: ASOS (sold out)
Headband: Market find

Long time, no blogging. I feel like it has been ages since I have done something new for here. Though I must explain that the reason for my lack of fresh posting lately is because I booked a two week holiday to Japan at the end of the year! Probably the most expensive time to go there but when I can say I rang in 2013 in Osaka it will all be worth it. Plus everything else there is to look forward to like the food, sight seeing, shopping and fulfilling my childhood dream of visiting Disneyland. I don't really mind that it's not the American Disneyland, it will still be Disney to me! Though I digress. It's mostly because I am on a strict savings budget and haven't bought anything new, and by anything new, I mean nothing, zip, zilch, zero, in over four weeks. That is a record for me! And I feel that since I haven't bought anything new then I have nothing to show off therefore nothing to blog about. Which is kind of silly because if it was going to be like that then this whole blogging experience would get a bit expensive for me. I am good at being thrifty when it comes to clothes and shopping. I found the above dress for $7.50 in a closing down retro shop, the clutch for a couple of dollars at an op-shop and the shoes on sale on ASOS for $15. For the next three months I will be doing my absolute best to get by on what I already have in my closet and using a little imagination. And keeping in mind that my holiday to Japan will totally be worth it!

Spring.

Shirt: ASOS
Shorts: Vintage
Shoes: Rubi Shoes
Sunglasses: Karen Walker

Spring: the entree to summer. It has finally arrived fresh from the kitchen in its most delicious form. Days are a bit longer, the sun is making us warmer and flowers are in blossom everywhere you look. There could be no better way to fully appreciate this change in season then by soaking up all of its glory on some sand and near some water. All I need for my spring days is for my legs to see the light of day in my denim shorts and something white to bring some light after what felt like a very dark winter. So cheers to you spring, may you add a little something special to everyone's day.

Aztec statement.

Dress: Tigerlily (a few seasons old)
Jacket: Jeans West (old) similar one here
Shoes: Converse
Clutch: ASOS (old) similar one here

I am feeling a bit out of words at the moment after a busy weekend and now being back into the working week. Just took these photos really quickly down a walkway near my home before the sun set to close the weekend that was. Whilst mucking around I found another secret abandoned walkway that will need to be explored sometime soon. Gotta love some suburban mystery.

Frenchy adventure.

Coat: Vintage
T-shirt: ASOS
Jeans: Country Road
Bag: Op Shop
Shoes: Therapy

Lets be real: life isn't about how good the clothes you wear are but the adventures you have in them; planning what you are going to wear is just part of the fun! And that's all I could think about all week for our weekend adventure to Brisbane for France's Bastille Day. To celebrate Bastille Day the Brisbane French community put on a French Festival in South Bank. Full of authentic French speaking people *swoon*, classic French cuisine and the sultry sounds of jazz music playing in the background it is fair to say I was one very happy girl. Before heading down to the festival we took some snaps in the Gallery of Modern Art. If you are ever in Brisbane be sure to check it out, there is always something interesting and quirky to see. I think this is enough from me. The pictures can do the rest of the talking...

L'amour et le bonheur de vous!
