Infinity Sourdough, Paddington.

Often on a Sunday (and who am I kidding, Saturday too) I wake up wanting nothing else then a fresh pastry and a coffee. This has become a little weekend tradition of sorts for L and I. We have ventured out to quite a few Sydney bakeries and last weekend decided to try out Infinity Sourdough in Paddington. For starters, the beautiful interior is well worth the visit. High white ceilings with decorative ceilings, copper piping, those retro black sandwich boards with the white letters, polished concrete floors and scattered plants throughout. It was a bit of a Pinterest delight! Not to mention the glass cabinets were overflowing with croissants the size of footballs, salted caramel brownies, pear danishes and love heart shaped pretzels. We both shared a pumpkin, feta and chickpea sausage roll and an almond croissant. It was so exciting to try a bakery that made a vegetarian sausage roll that wasn't the tired and done spinach and feta version and boy was it good! The almond croissant was quite easily the largest almond croissant I have seen so far! Some bakeries put the almond filling on the inside, this filling was on the top and it made for an excellent crunchy crust while letting the croissant-y layers do their soft thing on the inside. Also, their barista was awesome. It was super hot on Sunday so short blacks on ice was needed. The barista brought us over a standard short black espresso on ice and then he brought us over a cold press coffee on ice so we could try both and taste the difference, what a legend! The cold press was definitely our favourite, so much smoother on the palate than the heat extracted coffee. I could have stayed there all morning but alas things need to get done on a Sunday. I'm sure it won't be long until we're back!

Capsule Outfit of the Week #1.

Wearing: Jacket, Jeans West (old), Top, Seed (last season), Jeans, Country Road (similar), Shoes, ASOS, Clutch, gift (similar)

Capsule wardrobe week one: going so far so well, as you would hope! Weather wise this week has been a lot more autumnal which is perfect for the clothes I have hanging in my wardrobe. Above is my favourite outfit of this week. I wore it to work on Friday and then out for dinner afterwards. I love the way the denim, white, navy and nude all work together and how there is just a little pop of colour from the clutch to keep it all interesting. I had a bit of a test this weekend with some of my girlfriends inviting me shopping... I tried on a skirt which didn't fit, obsessed about some jewellery but didn't buy, and left as I came, empty handed, and a little proud of myself!

Capsule Wardrobe, Autumn/Winter 2015.

Trying to think now I don't even remember how I stumbled upon finding out about capsule wardrobes. One link led to another, and in time took me to the blog Un-Fancy; a blog about personal style and minimalism. In an effort to simplify her life Un-Fancy's creator Caroline decided to start a 'capsule wardrobe' - a mini wardrobe of 37 versatile pieces that she loves.

After selling quite a lot of my wardrobe on eBay recently I started to relish the freedom of having less and using more of what I truly loved already hanging in my wardrobe. Less has made me feel liberated and light. Which has in turn led me to trying out the capsule wardrobe concept.

What the heck is a capsule wardrobe anyway I hear you ask? Basically it is refining your clothing situation to 37 pieces (or a number that works for you) per season that is guided by the following breakdown: 9 shoes, 9 bottoms, 15 tops, 2 dresses and 2 jackets. Oh and gym clothes, accessories, jewellery, swimmers, pajamas/loungewear and underwear are excluded from this list. You wear only the 37 pieces during the course of a season, three months. During this time you don't buy anything new (the hardest part I imagine...!). In the last two weeks of the season you can start to plan and buy for the next season's capsule. The amount you buy for each new season is a personal choice but the aim of the game is less. The goals are to save yourself time, energy, money and refine your personal style (which is bang on with my resolutions for this year!).

So here is my first capsule collection*. Most of the items I already own and I have added a few pieces to tie this all together. My number is higher than 37 and that is OK with me because I know between work and weekend I will wear everything. I'm giving myself a hall pass for one purchase during the three months for the ultimate grey turtle neck sweater as the autumn/winter collections aren't fully in stores yet.

*I used Polyvore to make the layout above so most of the items pictured are just very similar to what I own, not what I actually own... although a pair of yellow Monolo Blahniks would be very nice!
